Enchants and artifacts
Almost every spell can be made permanent by various means, although a fireball potion would be only marginally useful. (This article is WIP and will be expanded over time.)
Portal Seed
In our setting, a portal spell has two components. One is powering the spell - that is the simple part. Anyone with enough juice can open a portal and hold the spell steady enough to allow safe passage.
Connecting the portal to the right destination, however, is the tricky part. If the destination is not properly referenced, the portal may go astray, and if the umbellical cord through the slipstream isn't firmly connected on both ends, you might even be lost in the raw magicka forever.
This is where portal seeds come in: Prepared by people who know a target location's magickal dial-up code like the palm of their hand, these little artifacts will take care of the portal's destination handling. Consuming a portal seed while casting the spell will make the portal appear as if the seed creator themselves had handled the targeting part. |
