Name
Telvanni Ravani
Age
124, although she looks a bit younger.
Birthsign
The Lady
Appearance
The first thing people usually notice about Ravani is her apparent fragility. She is small and slender, although she keeps herself very upright, as if to make up for it. Despite or because of her lack of muscle she moves with the grace of a dancer.
Due to her white hair and silver eyes she appears colorless, which she sometimes empathises and sometimes contrasts with the choice of her clothing. She likes to dress well, and always appears neat and tidy.
If she opens her braid, her hair falls down to her belt.
Ravani often carries a portable harp, the spine carved from a silk strider tusk, the side plates that protect the strings finely-carved chitine with inlays from ebony and malachite, that must have cost a fortune.
At times, she clicks the string of Almalexia prayer beads that she wears around an arm and usually hides in her sleeve. They are polished smooth from long use.
Personality
Ravani is a still water if there ever was one. She doesn't talk much, unless someone manages to get her excited about something (either music or martial arts), and when she does, she phrases her sentences carefully, usually as a question as not to offend anyone.
She usually appears shy and timid, with two exceptions: When her fiancé Telvanni Nathyn Varo is with her, she appears far more secure of herself and can be charming, as if touching him reassured her, and under pressure, when she reveals a spine of ebony.
It is not obvious if she has a very subtle sense of humour or is involuntarily funny at time.
Religious beliefs
Despite growing up in the Balmora tribunal temple, Ravani rarely mentions the Tribunal and instead seems to rever Azura. Due to the fact that she regularly spends time with Elethus Indoril, Hand of Almalexia, she can't be a heretic, though...
Childhood
Ravani never knew her parents. She grew up in the Balmora temple, where she was trained to become a Hand of Almalexia (a privilege that is purely reserved to Indoril nobility). One might wonder why Balmora and not Mournhold, but Ravani does not say, or not know. She speaks of thorough training and obviously knows the Tribunal faith inside out.
Recent history
Ravani and Nathyn came to Stonefalls and entered the service of the Great House Telvanni's mainland branch where they quickly caught the eye of Aetherial Blade and Archmagister, finding themselves among Valorin Telvanni's hand-picked Wardens and being promoted to Spellwrights soon after - despite the fact that they show little prowess in anything that the Great House Telvanni usually prides itself in. However, adoption into another Great House severed any ties Ravani might have had to Indoril.
While neither she nor Nathyn are what anyone with good sense would call unobtrusive, they both serve as the Aetherial Blade's discreet agents. When they do not travel (which they do almost exclusively together), they live in one of the small houses in Sulfur Pools.
Noteable relationships
Telvanni Nathyn Varo
Spellwright and Warden, Ravani's fiancé, whom she obviously adores. (Nathyn is on the autism spectrum. Ravani often exaggerates her facial expressions and body language for him when he's with her.)
Teldryn Dreth
Telvanni Cernon's guard captain is Ravani's friend and sparring partner
Nirait Ashalkimallit
If anyone can be comfortable around the scary Ashlander vampire Azura priest, it is Ravani. While she is clearly reverent towards him, she doesn't appear awkward or hesitant towards him.
Elethus Indoril
The Hand of Almalexia has a striking likeness to Ravani. Rumour knows that she is his half-sister from the wrong side of the sheets. If spied upon or observed, they do not seem close - always standing at arm's length - but Elethus seems fond of Ravani. Inquiries in the Temple in Mournhold, where he is stationed, state that he has never laughed in public before meeting her.
It doesn't take a genius to deduce that Ravani is Archmagister Vivicah's hostage and leverage against Elethus, but they both bear it gracefully.
Unusual talents/Oddities
Due to special training to be fit as a Hand of Almalexia Ravani has decades of combat training special-tailored to her lack of body weight and is a formidable fighter, especially in un-armed combat. Her magickal talent is limited but present, and has been similarly honed as she is using fire to enhance her combat abilities.
She knows how to command, lead and logistically back any military unit smaller than an army.
Ravani can play some instruments, although she herself would say that she only plays the harp well enough to do it in public. She has a pretty singing voice, un-trained but clear and in tune, which is pleasant to listen to, but definitely not suited to make people run into things during her performances. If she is not in combat attire, she often busies her hands with her harp strings.
Motivation
Ravani and Nathyn came to Heimlyn Keep seemingly out of nowhere asking for work, but can clearly be traced back to the Balmora Temple, where Ravani has spent all her life and Nathyn the last decade or so.
Surely the timing is purely coincidence, but the temple burned down completely the day before they arrived in Stonefalls.
