re: Expedition to Wrothgar

Valorin Telvanni took a sip of shein and unrolled the scroll again, his eyes once more running over that specific passage. A quick look on the map spread on the table confirmed his assumption. There it was. No doubt, this had to be the place mentioned in the text. There he would begin the search for the great prize he wasn't even sure existed. This had to be planned thoroughly.
He had a hint now, something to begin with, but the actual location was still hidden. And there was trouble stirring in that land, the Orc King trying to rebuild Orsinium and forge an alliance. He sent word and welcomed all who would be able to contribute, so a small band of researchers wouldn't be noticed. In Orsinium at least. But the Orc clans... They might want this prize for themselves, once they got word of it. No, an official endeavour launched by a Telvanni Councilor would attract too much attention, but a small group, low-profile, might not raise suspicion. Valorin smiled as he realized that this would be an opportunity for him to wear that old armour again. Something he traded in for the garments of the Aetherial Blade, along with the great charade of politics and plots. He emptied the shein in one draw and placed the volcanic glass mug on the Wrothgar map, distorting a specific ruin under its green lens.

Not an event itself, but the installation of an RP hub in Wrothgar, centered on Valorin's expedition. The mood of the endeavour will be adventurous with a minimum of noble play, politics and wizardry. Welcome are all medium/low power characters who have a reason to join the expedition. High level characters may visit occasionally, but they would have to adapt to the setting here. Low-profile, no fancy superpowers, no levitating up and down cliffs, no "Serjo" here and "Master Wizard" there. A character who attends should stay a while in Wrothgar and thus be away from Heimlyn Keep for a while. Travel back and forth will not be impossible, but is discouraged to keep up the atmosphere and cover story.

Plots:

I will certainly host a few events there to progress the expedition and which can be considered "main plot" or something like that, but there will be room for your own subplots, personal scenes and ideas of course. I want an opportunity to roleplay in Wrothgar without being out of place as a character from our Telvanni-based setting.

The setting:

This is also an opportunity to change your gear into something less noble and official, if that was the way to go for you in the past, it's time to shed your skin. Make yourself look like an adventurer! Of course you can also wear a robe, just choose a less fancy design.
We want to keep low-profile here, addressing nobility with "Serjo" or kissing their feet in public is not recommended. Outrageous feats of magic would catch attention as well and is discouraged.
This could also be an opportunity to introduce new characters which otherwise would have a hard time fitting in .

So... What is this about?

Valorin is a runesmith. Recently the new and more modern maps of Wrothgar arrived and he discovered a resemblance to places that are mentioned in old texts that might lead him to an ancient site he was pursuing for a very long time now. You will get the details in character. I will host events that lead to discovering that site, step by step. We will progress slowly, so we will arrive in Wrothgar next Saturday, looking around and so on, taking our sweet time. This won't be a short visit, but a longer stay with lots of opportunities. Valorin will act as questgiver sometimes and should be the only high power level character there. His wife will visit then and when I guess, but she would have to restrain her magicka use. :D

What isn't it about?

It's not about Dunmer nobility, not about political powerplay, not about wizardry.

Which character should I choose to attend?

Low to medium power level characters can attend. Mightier characters and characters that are likely to draw attention (like vampires) shouldn't come with us. Wrothgar can be harsh and cold, make sure you pick a character who won't just freeze and die. As I said before, your character will be away for a while. We _could_ use portals, but we won't do that all the time, due to this being an undercover mission and because it would break immersion. Even if your character is with us, you don't have to attend to all the events there, of course.

But what about Heimlyn Keep?
Of course the RP there will go on. Most people have more than one character and I am confident there will be enough of us left to make it look like nobody is missing.

We will start on Saturday the 21. November at 20:00 CET. After that feel free to have some RP in Wrothgar. Any following events will be announced. Get your warm clothes and prepare for adventure!
