With our slave auctions on fridays we have created a great Telvanni-like event, which is a great opportunity to show how normal it is for Dunmer to sell and purchase slaves. In case of our House we are also able to show off how filthy rich we are. At this point it's, of course, thrilling to use ingame gold to buy slaves, but I recently discovered the downside of this habit.
The post-Christmas newbie wave brought many new guild members to our Great House, many also new to the game. While it's totally possible to play an experienced Telvanni Wizard independently of the character's level or the player's game time, you have to be a long time player when it comes to purchasing slaves. You really have to be active and have at least one high level character to have the sum of gold ready to purchase a slave on one of our auctions. Since gold is essential for many aspects of non-RP gameplay, you won't give it away easily, especially when you don't have so much... or none at all.
To make the auctions more appealing for players new to the game, or casual players, I would suggest to drop our ingame gold purchase habit and go for RP-Emote-Gold.
Who wants to contribute any further and/or thank the players organizing the event (which also includes the slaves) should feel free to donate some amount of gold directly to the players or to the guild bank, which would help purchasing our mangy Khajiit Guild Trader in Mournhold (last time we tried with 155000 Gold and lost the bidding).
