(Work in progress)

Name: Talvas Irethi

Age: 240~ Born on the 20th of First seed.

Birth-sign: The Lord. Talvas is slightly taller than the average Dunmer and has a large muscular build. Clearly not to be prodded the wrong way. Even for his age he is quite in shape.

Appearance:

Talvas has long faded orange hair as if it’s sheen had been lost to old age. He has grey skin with a dry complexion and many wrinkles and some facial scars along his eye and chin. His coal eyes appearing to be permanently in a state of seriousness and anticipation as if calculating or planning something. Talvas adorns any armor or weaponry specific to the situation at hand. However, underneath all that, he is covered in various scars he had accumulated over the course of two centuries. His body appears battered and abused thoroughly…an unpleasant sight. The scars are covered in full body tattoos of tribal appearance which adds to his fearsome warrior persona to scare would-be-enemies away. Talvas wears his hair in a ponytail recently, along with a well kempt trimmed beard. To sum up; Talvas looks old. Old and mean.

Personality:

A hard up-bringing and a life in the military have made Talvas a hardened mer. Stern and serious, with no tolerance for nuisances whatsoever. That said, he does tend to grin when the occasional inappropriate joke is made, and often is the one making them whenever he is not on the job and can afford to not be serious.

Talvas is a workaholic. In anything and everything her pursues. Often times he starts contracts directly after completion of the previous. He is seen to pace around and shift from a seated position to standing even in his leisure time as if he was in some hurry.

He is a natural tactician. The kind that can beat you at a chess game with only a couple of moves. As strongly built as the mer is; he does have a tactical mind which helped him raise through the ranks and become a very decorated and renown militant in his time in the army. He had grown to be a figure respected enough to silence loud rowdy soldiers just by entering the room.

Religious Beliefs:

Talvas believes in the tribunal faith of the Dunmeri people.

Unusual Talents:

His battle strategies and tactics would be as impressive as Roman military tactics if they had never been seen before by a barbarian tribe. He has a quick and flexible mind and though his magickal abilities are extremely basic and is no scholar, he is able to strategize his way out of most situations, be it in battle, or not. As one can expect from an individual who has spent over two centuries fighting and winning; Talvas is proficient in a great number of weaponry and fighting styles and survival…Soldiers don’t tend to live to a ripe old age usually. Beware. Most importantly he can hold his tongue. At any cost.

Hobbies:

Reading about historic battles and battle tactics of the Imperial legion and other races to hone his own understanding and tactics, as well as creating his own battleplans for fictitious scenarios and practice. Has begun detailing war stories into a Journal because he heard it helps with getting over war issues. Is also writing some sort of book on warfare.

Notable affiliations:

-        Dunmer military

-        Fighter’s Guild

-        Wrothgar expedition

Childhood and early history:

Talvas was born to a servant mother in Balmora and never knew his biological father. He had a brother named Tilanos who was younger than him by six years. Talvas’ earliest memory is fleeing from his master residence and averting a chase with his new born brother in his arms due to a ploy gone wrong, resulting in his mother’s death.

Talvas spent his early years performing odd-jobs at the kwama-mines and the like to put his brother through with a formal education. When he was old enough, he finally joined the army where years of manual labor and taxing work had already given him a muscular build suited for the profession. As Talvas was honing himself and training, his brother Tilanos had been learning, and training to be a mage. Talvas could not even read by the time his brother had discovered his talents. With time the two taught each other skills of their craft. Talvas had grown to fit into the life he had chosen. He had made it his goal to master every form of martial arts and every type of weapon, be it siege, ranged, or blade. The lost boy had given himself a purpose. To become a weapon. By the time he was a considered a fully-fledged adult and veteran soldier, had been a known name amongst his superiors. And was a master of arms in his own right. At the prime of his career he had become a valued tactician and commander, often operating in conjunction with generals and higher-ups. Some say he would go on to reject the position of pact general years later due to “personal matters”.

Relevant history: (one of many tales)

Ten years has passed since the Akaviri invasion. Ten years since his capture. And ten years since his beloved brother’s death. Of all Talvas’ traits, the strongest was his love for his younger brother and the unbreakable bond they had shared. In the final years of the war, there came a time where Talvas had lead an important night-raid on Akaviri warships at Vivec’s antlers with the mission to see them sunk to the bottom of the sea.

The unit had soon learned that they had fallen into the Akaviri’s trap and we’re tortured for intelligence. Talvas being the commander and highest-ranking officer of the unit would have had the pleasure of being the focal point of their torture and interrogation tactics. Three years of imprisonment and torture he spent amongst the Akaviri. They had even made sport of it and threw squad members into fighting pits for their entertainment. It had become clear to them that Talvas would never break. His soldiers were easier to break, though they had lacked the relevant information. And so Talvas had put up with the charade and stalled them long enough for what he hoped would be a rescue team. And a team did come. A team with Tilanos among their ranks to his dismay.

The routinely pit fights had taken place the same day the rescue team had failed. A fight that brought both Irethi brothers against one another. Both as stubborn as the other, refusing to fight and demanding the other be the one to kill them. Such a display had unearthed Talvas’ weakness. His brother was then tortured and flayed to death with Talvas made to watch. He still did not reveal any information; a regret he will take to his grave. With Tilanos’ death died Talvas’ spark in life. However, Talvas was a workaholic. And a warrior.

Talvas was a calculating mer. He had learned the guard shifts, learned the way back and to the pits. He had not idled his capture away. He had created a prison break and got the job done regardless of the years delay. He had burnt the warships and prevented any possibility of retreat. Talvas, malnourished and wounded had completed his task. Vivec had cleansed the battlefield soon after with a flood. The Akaviri having no means of escape from the shore were annihilated completely.

Recent History:

Talvas left the army the day the war was won and the danger was flushed out. He then headed west where he would literally walk away from his woes. His journey eventually landed him in Wrothgar where he had heard news of a new city being built and had decided to take up mercenary work.

Talvas met with the Telvanni expedition of the Wrothgar Hub on one of his contracts that had overlapped with their passage. He was surprised to meet an old friend and brother in arms, Valorin Telvanni. The two had fought side by side in the war many times. As such, the alcoholic hobo Talvas Irethi was offered a more permanent job that did not rely on contracts. To safeguard those on the expedition. Muscle. Which he was good at being. It was an upgrade from living in the stables with the horses.

Foryn Telvanni has made strides in Talvas’ mental betterment. His friend had prodded him to join the fighter’s guild which he did, and instead of excessive consumption of alcohol, he now excessively completes contracts, gaining him the rank of Swordsman. Thanks to his efforts, Talvas is back on track and is seemingly more open to talk about his issues…somewhat.

Talvas suffers from PTSD due to the long-term torture he had endured in the war, and if one were to peak into his quarters at night, they would see that he prefers to sleep in a damp corner rather than his warm bed which his dire wolf cub occupies. Foryn has begun to check up on him, masking it as visits. (He does not believe that though he appreciates the chance to save face)

His brother’s death had at one point left him detached, though he has made friends and is marginally improved. Or at least on the surface.

Notable Relationships:

Niluva Favelnim: Significant other. Bard that stole his heart (He caught her fetchering him.)

Tilanos: Deceased brother. The primary thing he had built his life around. Raised him himself.

Valorin Telvanni: Brother in arms. “Twinkle-fingers”

Foryn Telvanni: Friend and S’wit. Has probably single handedly saved him from kicking the bucket several times unknowingly.

Lily Lakeside: Foryn’s Bosmer who he should probably not anger if he valued his genitals.

Quen: Valorin’s ward. Feels obligated to teach her “how things are” and how to survive. Plays the bad guardsmer while Foryn plays the good guardsmer in teaching lessons.

Tykan: Co-manly man. They get along fine and talk about fighting styles a whole lot.
